February 4 - Skirt | @into-the-jeggyverse | wc: 758

It’s a no-brainer really. When the girls come into the Gryffindor common room talking about how Slughorn got on their asses about wearing pants, over the weekend and in their free time to wear as they please, there’s nothing else to do. 

It’s how they ended up here, standing around in the dorm room figuring out what skirt should be worn by who. Currently, Remus has on a mid-length brown plaid skirt that Lily pulled out for him, Sirius with a leather miniskirt that Marlene gave him directly, Pete has on a long black skirt, and James is wearing a pleated red skirt they grabbed while Marlene was presenting her options for them. 

James swirls the fabric around, smiling down at the motion of it. Sirius does the same not far away from them. 

“Ready boys?” Remus asks, pushing himself up with his cane. The group agrees and they head up and out of the dorm where the girls are waiting in the common room. 

Marlene starts cackling upon seeing them, throwing her head back, “Oh my Merlin, you guys actually did it!” 

James does a little twirl, “Of fucking course we did. Any excuse to say fuck you to authority.” They reach out their hand to help her stand up. She takes their hand and moves to stand, nodding approvingly at them and Sirius. Lily and Mary stand up as well, complimenting the guys.

Sirius claps his hands, “Well lads and ladies, where shall we go?” 

“I for one,” Marlene smiles, “Think that we should go find Regulus and Dorcas and show them the glorious scene before me.” 

“You’re getting way too much amusement in this.” Remus shakes his head.  

She shoots him a look, “You can’t fucking tell me that you’re not happy seeing Sirius in that skirt.” Remus doesn’t say anything, and she crosses her arms triumphantly like she knows that she won -- everyone does. Then she grins, walks up to James and Pete and intertwines her elbows in theirs, “Let’s go girls.” And with that, she marches out of the Gryffindor common room, Remus and Sirius following behind them hand in hand with Lily talking to Remus and Mary bringing up the rear. 

They all have different reactions to the looks, James grins at everyone who dares shoot them a disgusted look, laughing when the odd person wolf whistles at them or compliments them. They walk like that in their little entourage of women wearing pants and men wearing skirts. 

They figure that Regulus and Dorcas are in the library, so the group heads that way, not before dropping by Slughorn’s classroom -- and conveniently Snape on the way -- and getting him to see their attires. Lily runs into the library to grab the two of them while the rest of the group lingers around the hallway near it. She surfaces a couple minutes later with the whole Slytherin group in tow. 

The cackle that Barty lets out upon registering what the fuck he’s looking at is nearly immediate, joined quickly by Evan. Pandora makes their way over to Lily and Mary, asking about what is going on while Dorcas makes her way to Marlene, pressing a kiss to her cheek while Regulus ventures to James, looking him up and down rather salaciously. 

Mary grins, “Slughorn was being an asshole about us wearing pants because Merlin-forbid a woman wanting to wear something that’s not a skirt for once and so the guys all agreed to take our skirts out for a ride.”

Sirius hums, giving her a triumphant grin, “I think we rock it if I do say so myself.” 

Marlene hums, “You look better in my skirt than I do.” 

Regulus hums, looking them up and down, saying lowly, “I rather not say what I’m thinking about it, my brother is here.” James grins at him, leaning down and rubbing their nose against his. 

“What do you think?” James asks, smiling as Regulus wraps his arm around their waist. They bring their arms to rest on his shoulders, holding their own hands behind his head. 

“Oi, you two.” Marlene calls to them, “Get a fucking room, and you’re not doing anything in my skirt.” 

James pulls away from him, pulling him around so they’re side to side and James has an arm draped around his shoulder, “I mean… it is easier with clothes off.” Regulus rolls his eyes but reaches up with his free hand to grab at the one they have dangling over his shoulder. 

“My brother!” Sirius shouts, making the group laugh.

Dorcas as a transwoman, who was the most fashionable person in Hogwarts. Who helped Regulus design a binder when he first came out. Who cut Marlene's hair in the bathroom, so that they could finally see themselves when they looked in the mirror and not the perfect girl their family wanted them to be. Dorcas who fought in a war, who lost her partner, who avenged them and came the closest to killing the Dark Lord than anyone else.

marauders band au

so i started the planning for my marauders band au and i’m focusing on each band and how they formed and here’s what i’ve come up with.

regulus’s band is called the emeralds because i saw someone on tiktok propose it as an alternate name to slytherin skittles. regulus is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist, pandora is also a lead singer and the bassist, Dorcas is the lead guitarist, barty is the drummer, emma vanity used to play rhythm guitar and keys but now evan plays keys and reg plays rhythm guitar. reg and pandora have been friends since they were little and so have evan and barty, but reg and pandora don’t really meet barty and dorcas until eighth grade. in high school they meet emma who is older and they all become friends (well minus evan). Evan moves on from them and makes new friends. About a year after they meet Emma they form a band (they play punk/rock/alt music of some sort). when their sixteen pandora convinces regulus to run away from home and they move out. later barty joins them and he drops out of high school. once the rest of them finish high school emma leaves the band to join the valkyries. and now they’re left wondering what to do about a keyboardist bc none of them know how to play. but then evan reaches out to pandora because his parents kicked him out and he needs help. so they take him in and then realize that he can play piano, so boom he’s in the band.

the girls band is called the valkyries. mary sings lead, marlene plays bass, lily plays rhythm guitar, emma plays lead guitar, emmeline plays drums and keyboard. mary and marlene dated in high school and met lily and emmeline through there. lily is originally a part of the marauders but she leaves in junior year which is also around the time that mary and marlene break up. when lily leaves the four of them start their band. later, emmeline and emma meet and emma joins the valkyries bc they were looking for another guitarist to complete their band.

and lastly, james’s band is the marauders. he was originally friends with lily and sirius and they started a band in middle school called gryffindor. but when they got to high school they met peter and remus and started the marauders. James is the bassist, sirius sings lead and plays rhythm guitar after lily leaves, lily plays rhythm guitar and percussion, remus plays drums, and peter plays lead guitar.

so yeah that’s basically all i have so far :)

February 13 - Poppy Pomfrey | @into-the-jeggyverse | wc: 1,138 Part 1 of Healing Apprentice James Part 2 | Part 3

“James?” Poppy hums, walking out of the private area she was just chatting with the student in it, wiping her hands off and making her way to her potions cabinet, “Would you be willing to run and get me some more ingredients from Professor Slughorn for the sleeping and pain draughts, I’m running low and this is going to take a few of them.” 

James nods and pushes themself up from where they had been writing up a report for the woman. They’re just about to leave the medical wing when the door opens and in comes Regulus and Evan with Barty slung over their shoulders, Pandora and Dorcas just behind them. 

Regulus and Evan give James a mean look, and normally Barty would as well, but he seems far too out of it right now. Which is what makes James immediately stop and wheel around, silently pulling a room open for them and calling out, “Poppy, we’ve got someone in just now.” 

The woman wheels out of the area, taking a moment to look at the scene before her then sighing, “Can you look over the injuries and mark them down for me? I’m busy and need to get this done quickly.” James nods and gestures to the faux room they opened up.

“What are you doing here?” Regulus sneers at them.

James rolls their eyes, “Helping your friend, put him down.”

“You’re not going to touch him.” 

“If it’s bad enough that you lot are taking him up here and not just doing your own spells, yes the fuck I am.” They sigh, praying that Poppy didn’t hear their language -- as much as she likes them, she’s not above admonishing them for their inappropriate language. They turn to Pandora and Dorcas, knowing those two are more likely to listen to them, “Can you talk some sense into your friends while I prepare a sheet for him?” Pandora nods and goes to talk sense into their best friend and brother. 

By the time that James comes back with a patient sheet, Barty is sitting down in the bed, Evan sitting next to his chest. Regulus, Pandora, and Dorcas are sitting and standing nearby. James sighs, but they know none of them will leave James with Barty alone. So they step to the side of the bed and pull up a chair, beginning to check Barty for cursory injuries, “What happened?” 

“He was the unfortunate bystander to an experimental potion explosion.” Pandora shrugs like it’s nothing, “Got a little too close, the potion decided that it wanted to be reactive… boom.” 

James sighs, “Alright then, what ingredients were in the potion?” They ask, charming their quill to write down as they explain, “Rosier, you’re going to need to stand up and one of you will need to remove his shirt for me.” 

“I can do it on my fucking own.” Barty grumbles, taking his shirt off. 

Pandora has to pull Evan off the bed because he won’t budge, and they don’t stop talking in the process, explaining the ingredients that they were using and what they were trying to do.” James nods and follows along, taking note of injuries and asking about them, then proceeding to ignore what are obviously hickies -- damn Evan can leave some marks on him -- and writing everything of importance down, including the rapidly developing burn marks. 

“What were the results of the explosion?” They ask, “Did he go flying? Get potion on him?” Pandora answers dutifully and James nods once they think they have all the information.

Finally, they push themself to stand up, “Poppy’s busy right now and I’m not technically authorized to do any healing spells right now. Crouch, do you think you need a pain draught?” They don’t wait for him to answer, instead going to the cabinet and grabbing one, writing it down on the sheet that Poppy uses to keep track of her supplies, and bringing it to them, “It’s a low dose, that’s all I can manage for you right now. Take if you want, or don’t. I’ll let Poppy know.” And with that, they head out of the area, putting the report sheet nearby and telling Poppy that Barty was ready for whenever and it was serious but not urgent then telling her that they were heading out. They grab the ingredients list the woman put together and head out, shocked to be joined by Regulus, “Is there something you need from me, Black?”

“Since when are you helping in the medical wing? Just trying to learn some spells to keep healing my idiot brother.” 

James rolls their eyes. It’s amazing how often Sirius gets brought up when the two of them are around each other, “Technically, yes. But it’s none of your fucking business.” They sigh, attempting to ignore him and pretend that the man he’s obsessed with isn’t walking next to him willingly for the first time.

They make it down to Slughorn’s in record time and quickly talk to him about why they’re there, giving him the ingredients list and letting the man put it all into bags. 

It all happens rather quickly and James and Regulus are silently walking out of the room and back up into the medical wing soon after. 

It’s only then that Regulus speaks, “You’re really not fucking with us or something? This isn’t some sort of prank of yours that you got Madam Pomfrey in on?” 

James gives him a look, “You really think that Poppy would agree to joining in on one of my pranks?” They sigh, “I know that you hate me or whatever, but your preconceived notions of me doesn’t make me a bad person like you want to pretend I am. I actually want to help people.” They don’t give him a chance to respond, instead pushing open the door and heading back into the medical wing, moving to drop the bags of ingredients in Poppy’s backroom that she keeps all of her potions things in. 

Regulus is back at his friends’ bedside when they return, joining Poppy. She calls over to them, telling them to go and check in on the other patient that she was working on, make sure that his arm is set right and he’s asleep. They do so, then get to work on cleaning up the area. 

Barty is released soon after and Poppy sends the group to James for them to finish up with the paperwork and drafting up a letter to his parents that James knows she won’t actually send. Pandora and Dorcas thank them before heading out, dragging Regulus along. Evan and Barty do glare at them, but leave quickly once everything is finished up. James sighs and collapses down on the chair, re-opening the healing book they were reading before they were sent out.
